Occupational Health and Safety Compliance in Gauteng Health

Gauteng Health MEC, Dr Bandile Masuku made a commitment at the Health Budget Vote to invest more than R1 billion towards maintenance and refurbishment of facilities across the province.

One of the key focus areas on the 6th Administration is dealing with OHS compliance.

This is also in preparation for the roll-out of the National Health Insurance. The safety of both staff and patients is also a key focus area for the department and ensuring that we are compliant, and will help us to achieve improved health outcomes.

The department has set for itself an annual target of ensuring 100% Administrative OHS compliance.

The 2019/2020 First Quarter performance of the department shows that we are currently at 55% which is on course with attaining the 100% by the end of the financial year.

We are committed to ensuring that all our facilities are 100% compliant with Occupational Health and Safety at the end of the 2019/20 financial year.
