We could not have asked for better weather and group of golfers for Regcoms Annual Charity Golf Day held at Blue Valley Golf Estate. We could even be bold to say that when Reggie Marimuthu puts a charity golf day together he does it with style and invites some of the best industry leaders, Chris Hooman (JetPatcher), Steve Senekal (Senior Pro golfer), Rob Dalton (Sun International) and Shaun Bartlett (Former Bafana Bafana player and football coach ), to name a few.
Today’s golf event was in aid of Reach upon a Star Foundation and CANSA and those attending came in full support. During conversation with some of the players, it was evident how many people’s lives have been touched by this disease, either through family, friends or colleagues. Cancer is one of the world’s leading causes of death and with a recent study predicting that South Africa could see an increase of 78% in the number of cancer cases by 2030, one can applaud the initiative of Reggie Marimuthu to host a fund-raising event where some children struggling with cancer will have their wishes made a reality.
The mood was not sombre though as players teed off to a shotgun start and let’s hope the good-humour continues well into the dinner and fund-raising event this evening.
