Tourism Month is an annual celebration held in September to focus on the importance of tourism to the economy of South Africa. Tourism Month is celebrated annually in September with the aim of encouraging South Africans to explore their own country.
It also provides the tourism industry with an opportunity for a sustained, heightened month-long focus on the importance of domestic tourism to the economy. UniMedia recently in the month of August (Women’s month) hosted the Minister of Tourism and presented its PinkStig Series brand and how it complements the objectives set out by the department of tourism. The Minister expressed her excitement of what the PinkStig Brand offers to women in golf and more so its direct approach in promoting golfing destinations for local and international tourism.
On the 7th September, the PinkStig Friendship Classic 4th Edition takes place at Woodhill Golf Course Pretoria and will host members of the Department of Tourism, Bafana Bafana players which were recently inducted into the SA Hall of Fame at Sun City and Gareth ‘Soldierboy’ McLellan. The PinkStig lady professional golfers will also be out showing off their skills and talking about their careers and ambitions in the sport. The Department of Tourism will lead the celebrations with many events. A new domestic tourism marketing campaign: Nothing’s More Fun than a Sho’t Left that emphasises the fun of a domestic leisure getaway, encouraging South Africans to take short breaks.
The campaign also offers several holiday packages; deals that have been engineered in partnership with South African Tourism’s travel trade partners to deliver the fun, easy, accessible and affordable holidays that “Nothing’s More Fun than a Sho’t Left” promises.
