It is with joy and humility as we celebrate Nelson Mandela Day that Unicore Holdings and UniMedia Productions delivered 54 wheelchairs to the Centra Social Development Foundation situated in the North West Province.
In an address made by former President Nelson Mandela at the Opening of Parliament in 1999, he said: “The time is yet to come for farewells, as many of us – by choice or circumstance – will not return. However, there is no time to pause. The long walk is not yet over. The prize of a better life has yet to be won.”
These sentiments echoed by Madiba are deeply embedded in our conscious and it is what drives us to do better and continue to strive towards an ideal community in which the needy’s voice is heard and responded too.
Unicore realizes the dire need of the physically challenged, but also their circumstances living in impoverished communities where that need is exasperated by the limitation of local government to provide assistance unhindered. It is in this circumstances that joint efforts are required by local government and private partners to make a difference. In light of these realities faced by so many, Unicore Holdings and UniMedia wish to create high impact, sustainable changes in the lives of those affected by their handicap and disability, providing them with the wheels to get on with their natural born talents and education.
Centra Social Development Foundation led by Rev Centra Cindi, Mr Joseph Thebyane and Mrs Lydia Lechuti took the responsibility of handing out the wheelchairs to the following institutions working with the various degrees of physical disabled and at a medical disadvantage. On the 15th July 2017 ,
Centra Social Development Foundation handed over 54 wheelchairs to Anglican and Methodist churches to assist the physically challenged. The immediate beneficiaries of the wheel chairs were as follows: Temogo Special School, St Catharine hospice, Walking Aid, Tweelagte clinic , Bakubung clinic , Montsana clinic and Nona Care Centre Garankuwa.
“Unicore has been dedicated to service excellence in the healthcare industry for over 15 years. UniMedia is a sports-focused media-house that provides exposure and opportunity to sporting and other professionals.” Realizing the dire need of the physically challenged in impoverished communities, we are proud to align this donation with Nelson Mandela Day.
