After a successful season on the Sunshine Ladies Tour, Kiran Matharu starts her European leg with a LET Access event in France. The Terre Blanche Ladies Open is a three day event being played from 31 March to 2 April at Golf de Terre Blanche.
There will be a cut after 2 rounds with the top 45 and tied players. These players will all get their share of a €40 000-00 prize purse. This is a €10 000-00 increase from when the event was first introduced last year. “The golf course in beautiful,” says Matharu, “It’s my third time playing here and have had good finishes every time” she added.
This promises to be an exciting event with 126 players competing such as Gwaladys Nocera who is a 14 time champion on the Ladies European Tour as well as Luna Sobron, who was playing as an amateur when she won the event in 2016. Matharu says she is looking at the week as a warm up for the event in Morocco. She has not touched a club in a week as her and her family recently celebrated the marriage of her brother. Sometimes a little break can help revitalize the body and mind especially after 10 weeks of constant playing.
Matharu got a bit of fortune thrown her way when she qualified to play in the Ladies European Tour Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco 2017. She was 3rd reserve the day before the closing date and 2 days before the event, found out her spot in the field was secured. “It was a pleasant surprise”, says Matharu. “In the 2011 Lalla Meryem Cup, I finished 2nd and secured my card for the year so this year my goal is just that.” This is a 4 day event from 13 April to 16 April at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, which comes with a prize purse of €450 000-00 and first placed professional taking an amazing winnings of €67 500-00.
On behalf of the PinkStig team, we wish Kiran all the best of luck for her return to the Ladies European Tour. We are behind her all the way and look forward to updating our followers on her progress.
