Ivanna Samu an Icon for Young Women Golfers

Ivanna Samu started playing golf at the age of 10. She has won more than 10 championships in South Africa and was ranked as the no.1 ranked amateur before turning pro in 2016.

She played in the PinkStig Invitational, which took place on the 28th November 2016 at Sun City. Ivanna went on to finish in 3rd place and earned her first cheque from UniMedia as a professional golfer.

Her account has been opened on the Sunshine Tour for 2017 and thus far she has raked in R9 513 at the Supersports Ladies Challenge and R9 600 on the SA Womens Masters in Cape Town.

At age 18, Ivanna’s maturity and appetite for the game has proved she has the makings of a great champion. Her experience as an amateur golfer has set her up for an illustrious professional career.

Her highlights as an amateur are many and include:

Receiving a silver medal from Prince Andrew as runner up to the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy.

Being part of Team SA and playing in the World Junior Championships in Japan.

Playing at the Annika Invitational in Sweden in August 2015

The Sanlam SA Women’s Stroke Play Champion

Ivanna is well supported by her family and plays her golf out of Ruimsig Country Club. She is a fine example of how we can locally produce successful professional sporting icons and is a great role model to the youth and aspiring lady golfers.

On signing up to join the PinkStig Dream Team she expressed her excitement and pride as being part of a collective in promoting and enhancing women professional golf.

Will this talented golfer who is often named as the ‘rookie to watch out for’ prove her pedigree in excellence as a professional golfer at the SA Women’s Open being played at San Lameer from the 26th – 28th January 2017.
