Carrie Park arrives at Wild Coast Sun ahead of the SA Women’s Open confident and excited to continue the form she has shown leading up to her win at the SA Women’s Masters.
Carrie Park plays her golf out of Irene Country Club in Pretoria and already boast making a hole-in-one at the club. At the age of 17 – years – old Carrie’s victory at the Sanlam SA Amateur Stroke Play Championship took her to the number one spot in the Women’s Golf South Africa Senior Rankings.
Park also won the 2013 Gauteng Junior Championship and achieved seven top five finishes that year and in 2016 Carrie Park fired a flawless seven-under-par 65 in her opening round at the IGT Tour’s Race to Q-School #2 at Waterkloof Country Club
In April 2016 Carrie Park shot a blistering eight-under-par 64 at the ERPM Golf Club to share the lead with former European Tour champion Anton Haig in the IGT Tour’s ERPM Challenge.
As for her attitude towards her game and life is beautifully captured in an incident on the final day of the SA Women’s Masters as she explains: “My tee shot rolled just off the fairway into a patchy area,’ she said. ‘I took a few practice swings, and on the third swing, I saw the ball move about an inch, so I had to call a penalty on myself.” She still went on to clinch her first title on the Sunshine Ladies Tour as a professional women’s golfer.
Carrie Park highlighted in her meeting with Dhiren Mehta co founder of UniMedia and the PINKSTIG BRAND, that one of the benefits of her joining the PinkStig Dream Team is its family environment and company values, which can easily become a factor after a bad round and having to make a call or chat with someone. “Many times you find yourself alone and cannot turn to anyone and it can become a very lonely place to be in and its the hardest place to come out of sometimes.” say Carrie
Carrie is excited moving into the SA Women’s Open and is spending her night with her team mates at the Wild Coast Sun sponsored by Sun International and tomorrow she will go out and play her practice round before the Open starts on the 26th Januray 2016 at San Lameer golf Estate.
