Kiran Matharu sponsored by UniMedia Pro was fortunate enough to meet up with her junior playing partner Rory Mcllroy who now boast being the world number 2 and who is here to play in the BMW SA Open. It is the world’s second oldest Open Championship.
Kiran and Rory are hoping to meet up with Sir Nick Faldo this weekend as both have had the opportunity to play under his mentorship and the Nick Faldo Series during their junior days.
Kiran Matharu started golf at the age of 11 and displayed early signs of talent and a natural flair for golf.
Within 6 months she captained her county team Yorkshire and won her match. By the time she turned thirteen she represented England and continued to do so up to the age of seventeen.
Her father saw a champion being born and put all his effort behind his daughter to get her into the right programme and develop Kiran’s golfing skills. In the same time she claimed the Nick Faldo Series Championship twice and was selected to be a part of Team Faldo with team mate Rory Mcllroy from the age of 14 onwards. They went on to play for Great Britian & Ireland against the USA and she won the English Amateur at the age of seventeen (youngest player to ever win).
