Mae Cornforth ‘After the SuperSport Challenge’
Mae Cornforth completed her first Sunshine Ladies Tour event , which took place at Huddle Golf Park between the 4th and 6th January 2017. The SuperSport Ladies Challenge is one of 10 events that will take place over the next three months and is commonly referred to as the ‘Summer Tour’.
Mae who only started her pro career a year ago has already achieved satisfactory results with three 21st positions finishes and ended 26th at the SuperSport Ladies Challenge. She strongly believes that its more focusing on her mental game to get her into top ten finishes as her short term goal. After her round today she gave UniMedia Pro some idea of what she thought of her game after three days of competitive golf.
She starts off: “I am very excited that the first event of sunshine ladies is completed and I am looking forward to the two very big ones coming up! Looking back at a year ago when I played my first professional event on sunshine ladies tour to now I have already made huge improvements on my game!”
She continues saying: “And then to be honest I feel a little disappointed, because I know for sure it was the mental side of my play that got to me this week. I started off with a fair 74 and then struggled the last two rounds.”
Lastly she says: “The wind was definitely a factor and the greens were challenging. I know for sure of my weaknesses technically, which I have to look at now and focus on. Then there is my state of mind, which gets to me especially on my putting!! In the end I am happy with the way I held on and I am sure moving onto the the SA Women’s Masters taking place in Cape Town , that I will take another leap towards the goals I have set for myself.”
