Bonita Bredenhann ‘I am a Professional Golfer’

Bonita Bredenhann, 24 years old, grew up in Hentiesbaai, Namibia and currently residing in  Pretoria. She has moved to Pretoria, because there are more opportunities to play and more coaching and training facilities. She started playing golf at the age of 6 and won her first tournament(Walvisbaai Open) at the age of 8.

Bonita begins with why she likes the game of golf: ” I like to practice the short game. I love to be on the course as it presents more challenges as opposed to being on the driving range all the time. I like to play a round or two of golf with my family and friends. My strength in my game is my driver, which gives me good distance. Most of all I love guiding and teaching people to play the game”

The next big question was why did you accept the invite to play in the PinkStig Invitational? “It  gives us ladies the opportunity to grow not only in yourself but on a much bigger ground. I am very grateful and privileged to be part of the PinkStig.”

Bonita BredenhannAs an amateur Bonita reminds us that she won the South African Match Play Open, in 2012, which really motivated her to turn pro and to make professional golf her full time profession. So when people would ask her about her profession, she would confidently and proudly reply: “I am a professional golfer”

In 2013 she eventually turned pro and her  first success was when she qualified for the Ladies Tour school at the Ladies European Tour with a course record of 64. “I’ve played on the Ladies Europen Tour circuit for three years.” she replies.

She played the European Tour  in 2015 and qualified for the tour in 6th position with a course record of 63, a remarkable year for her!

As for 2016 on the Sunshine Ladies Tour, she ended 13th and adds that she wants to continue the form she enjoyed for the last two years. The addition of the PinkStig only further excites her chances of reaching her desired form and actually get closer to her dream, which is to win on the SunShine Ladies Tour.
