Pieter Kruger wins the Cutter & Buck 2016

Pieter Kruger PGA Professional and Pretorian took the honours by winning by one shot at this year’s Cutter & Buck Pro Am, which took place at Pinnacle Point, Mossel Bay.

He was five under after the first nine and then with the weather taking a turn for the worst, with strong winds and heavy cloud cover, he finally dropped seven shots, but managed to pick up two birdies on the Par 5’s (16th and 18th hole). Kruger’s last birdie proved to be the winning point and allowed him to win by one point over his rival Mike Michell.

In third place was Greg Jacobs who ended two points short and ten points ahead of Werner Kapp of UniMedia Pro. The weather provided some additional challenges with the winds turning and swirling and not allowing Werner to take command on his second nine on his final round. Werner’s shot making was superb, but with very little favourable lays either landing in the deep bunkers or just finding the rough around the greens. He finally remarked after his round that the elements of nature had the final say on the day.

At the awards ceremony the PGA players could finally relax and chat about their experiences, its challenges, the beautiful coastal scenes and the marvel of just being able to play on such a remarkable well designed course.
