A message from Michelle Leigh to Sally Little and what it means celebrating the launch of her book ‘Capturing the Fire‘.
As a professional sportsperson, we work hard day in and day out like any other profession. We do what we do, because we love it, but when a great sport personality like Sally Little is finally being recognized for many years of hard work, we know we are moving in the right direction.
She has been a mentor to me and someone I have looked up too since picking up a golf club for the first time. I started playing golf in 2004 and knew who she was, but didn’t know her story. She has been through rough times in her career from being in a serious motorcycle accident and breaking both legs to being told she wasn’t allowed to participate in overseas events during South Africa’s apartheid era.
She has gone through the high of highs and the low of lows yet today she still stands tall and gushes about the game she loves so dear. Her book was her way of finally reclaiming her place in South Africa’s sporting greats and for people to know who she really is and what it takes to be a great champion like herself.
If it wasn’t for Unimedia, she would still just be a face in this world.
