Moss Creek’s Women Golf Association Honor’s Sally Little

Moss Creek’s Women Golf Association is honored to be remembered by Sally Little! Though Sally resides in South Africa, she took time to send our organization a very special ‘hello’ across the Internet. Forty years ago, Sally was the very first champion of The International Women’s Tournament played here on Devil’s Elbow course, now our South Course. It was Sally’s first win on the LPGA tour. On June 9, 1976 a group of Moss Creek women golfers founded our Women’s Golf Association. They hoped to have ten members! Today we number more than 250. I am honored to serve as this year’s President of MCWGA.

Sally Little In ActionToday we celebrated (a bit early) our birthday on June 9, 1976. Seventy-two ladies played a Scramble, enjoyed a luncheon AND birthday cake! The highlight of the afternoon was viewing a short video by two of our residents, Robin Fulton and awesome professional golfer, Rosie Jones, channeling Sally Little’s victory at Moss Creek! My thanks to Robin for your techno genius, Rosie for being such a good sport and playing with us today, and Sally Little for sharing our celebration from ‘across the pond’ with her many fans worldwide!

Another shout out to our club’s Director of Golf, Heidi Wright-Tennyson, for all you do to advance the game of golf everyday! Moss Creek truly is a special place to golf with extra-special WGA members!
Happy Fortieth Birthday, Moss Creek WGA!
Keep Swinging!

From Pam Finnie President of Moss Creek’s Women Golf Association
